Virtual Reference Mentorship Program

The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL), through Scholars Portal, offers an annual mentorship program for students and recent graduates of Masters degrees in library and information science. Participants work alongside librarians and library staff to provide chat based reference to students and researchers at participating universities.

Shifts of up to three hours per week for English mentees, or five hours for bilingual mentees, can be fulfilled from any location, as long as the mentee has a computer and internet access. Mentees are asked to commit to participating in the mentorship program for one academic year (September to April).

Recruitment of new participants happens in late spring or early summer. Keep an eye on the iSchool’s job site, and our twitter feed (@scholarsportal) for the announcement.
